Episode 2: Trauma Victim vs Trauma Survivor

In this episode, we're discussing the roles of a trauma victim and a trauma survivor. We'll talk about how they feel different and what it means to move from one state to another.

Our guest is Akua Feathers, who has experienced trauma personally, coached people through various types of trauma and is a Traumatology Counselor.

Akua Feathers

I’m Akua Rose Feathers a goofy, intellectual, queer, creative, humorous, and innovative coach/trainer with a flair for the dramatic. In 6 months, I’ll have my Ph.D. in Human Development with a concentration on Traumatology Counseling to add to my other degrees and coaching certifications. In my earlier years, I endured sexual, mental, physical, and emotional abuse and always felt that I was unaccepted or unacceptable. Other people saw a smart, strong woman, but I was insecure and afraid to be myself. Thankfully I knew I was created for more than that. I knew (and still know) that my purpose is to help others get to a place where they prosper and thrive. I committed myself to my healing process and education so I could intentionally and responsibly fulfill my purpose. Now, I coach and teach other women how to prioritize themselves so they can confront and conquer limiting beliefs, self-doubt, acts of self-sabotage, and victim mindsets so they can show up as their best selves. I help them learn to live life from where they are just as they are.
